I have developed something of an obsession with the Isle of Thanet after learning about when it was an island cut off by the historic Wantsum river. Sandwich was the port at the South Eastern end of this channel and a key site for the Roman occupation of Britain.

This walk takes you around Sandwich Bay and then inland along a current river route. It can be quite industrial in parts but the history sustains you.
