Porthcawl to Gileston

April 2026 · Lat: 51.4774 , Lng: -3.7053

This was a longer walk than I had anticipated as I wanted to stay on the Coastal Path and options are limited.

There was also the question of the Ogmore detour where you need to walk a long way upriver depending on the tide.

I think I could have waited and waded across at the beach but I was curious about the river valley and it was special.

The walk back down to the coast is less exciting and I was glad to be back at the sea.

The long stretch of coast to Gilveston did not disappoint with some incredible views of rock formations.

This route has a lot of places where you need to drop down into a ravine and climb back up again - be warned!
