William the Conqueror landed his army near to Pevensey Castle in 1066 before going on to fight at the Battle of Hastings.

The castle is a fabulous site with huge Roman walls and a later castle built within these.

The area was a large bay back in the 11th century and you get a sense of that on this walk.
